Why is my thermostat screen blank?

Direct answer

A blank thermostat may have dead batteries, interrupted power, a tripped safety switch, low-voltage wiring trouble or an equipment-control problem.

What this usually means

Replace batteries if the model uses them and check whether the HVAC breaker and indoor service switch are on.

If the screen went blank when cooling stopped and water is near the indoor unit, a condensate safety may have interrupted the control circuit.

What you can safely check

  • Thermostat batteries
  • HVAC breaker
  • Indoor service switch
  • Water near indoor equipment
When to call a professional

Request service when simple power checks do not restore the display or when the screen repeatedly goes blank.
